Halfway Coffee (Mong Kok)

Third shop of the Halfway café suite

OUR TAKE

Halfway Coffee has enjoyed immense popularity since its first branch opened in Sheung Wan. Their signature 'Wan Shou Wu Jiang' (萬壽無疆) porcelain cups are hard to overlook — the distinctive fusion of serving a quintessentially western beverage in Chinese tableware adds a visual charm to the café experience, helping them quickly gather a loyal following in-person and on Instagram.

The Mongkok branch introduced here is Halfway’s third shop. Its interior stays faithful to the old Hong Kong aesthetic. what particularly stands out is the 'Fortune Trading Company' (堅強貿易行) signage hanging above the cashier. Inherited from the former owner, its bold red Chinese characters are set against a white backdrop, evoking typical design elements of the 1950s.

Drinks of choice:
Dirty — one of our favorites at Halfway, nutty and creamy with well executed temperature contrast
Latte — velvety consistency and rich

萬壽無疆 ᴡᴀɴ ꜱʜᴏᴜ ᴡᴜ ᴊɪᴀɴɢ:
It means boundless longevity or everlasting long life. An imperial birthday wish, the phrase used to be reserved for birthdays of emperors and empresses of China.
