Nan Kok
Revitalizing an 80-year-old pre-war tenement building
OUR TAKE
We recently extended our reach to Kowloon City — also in the area is Nan Kok, tucked away in an 80-year-old pre-war tenement building (唐樓) that once served as a traditional hardware store (怡順榮五金店). The shop is pleasantly airy, artfully fusing contemporary earthy decor with the building's old fixtures, including a tongue gate with intricate metalwork and massive sign boards, which capture the essence of old Hong Kong and its cultural heritage.
In addition to a standard coffee menu, this shop offers flavourful variations (pandan coffee, anyone?). its brunch foods draw inspiration from nearby shops, such as fermented bean curd fettuccine from the decades-old Yee Heung Bean Product Company (義香荳腐食品).
Seating includes arrangements along the wall and outdoors. there's often a queue — visit early to avoid crowds.
